Legislators take aim anew at ethnic-studies programs

The Symbol of M.E.Ch.A., Movimiento Estudiantíl Chicano de Aztlán. Teaching hate every day in American schools.
PHOENIX - State senators approved legislation aimed at the curbing the ethnic-studies program in Tucson Unified School District.
HB 2281 would make it illegal for a school district to have any courses or classes that promote the overthrow of the U.S. government, are designed primarily for students of a particular ethnic group or advocate ethnic solidarity “instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.”
It also would ban classes that “promote resentment toward a race or class of people.”
Sen. Linda Lopez, D-Tucson, said the legislation is little more than a thinly disguised effort to quash a program TUSD officials have said was proven academically successful.
According to TUSD officials, the program in the district’s Mexican-American studies department simply provides historical information, which conflicts with state School Superintendent Tom Horne’s assessment the program is promoting racial hatred and “ethnic chauvinism.”

The 2010 TIME 100: Jenny Beth Martin

Every revolution needs icons. The Tea Party movement may have mushroomed because of its reluctance to anoint a leader, but leaders have emerged nonetheless. In February 2009, Jenny Beth Martin was one of about 20 people who took part in the original conference call (convened via Twitter hashtag) in response to Rick Santelli’s now famous rant. Her commitment to building the burgeoning movement has made her one of its breakout stars. Martin, 39, is a co-founder and the national coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots, an umbrella organization that claims 1,800 local affiliates with some 15 million members. She serves as co-chair of her hometown Tea Party in Atlanta, and she helped lead the 9/12 movement’s march on Washington in September. It was only as she watched protesters trickle down Pennsylvania Avenue to promote Tea Party principles, she says, that “the enormity of the movement hit me.” The former Republican consultant is an unlikely beacon — a mother of young twins, she blogs about clipping coupons, her household menu plans and her family’s battle with bankruptcy, which had Martin cleaning houses to make ends meet when the Tea Party began brewing. “I have a tendency to raise my hand to volunteer too often,” she says of the decision to launch the Tea Party Patriots. Her peers are glad she did.

Congress Creating California Dust Bowl

Can this be happening in America? Federal authorities are deliberately destroying farming in the nation’s most productive agricultural region. Monica Showalter of Investor’s Business Daily writes an outstanding report on the situation. She asks:
Would France rip out its storied vineyards? Would Juan Valdez scorch Colombia’s coffee crop? Sri Lanka its black pepper harvest? China its tea? With global markets won by nations specializing in doing what they do best, and with regional reputations important enough to drive some nations to protectionism, it’s almost unthinkable. But then there’s California. On a springtime drive through the Central Valley, it’s hard not to notice how federal and state governments are hell-bent on destroying the state’s top export - almonds - and everything else in the nation’s most productive farmland.
Congress and bureaucrats cite “drought,” “global warming” and “endangered species” to deny water to this $37 billion breadbasket through arbitrary “environmental” quotas.
17-year-old faces life sentence for killing border patrol agent

Widow and son of slain Border Patrol Agent
A 17-year-old Mexican faces a maximum penalty of life in prison when he is sentenced for killing a Border Patrol agent who was shot eight times in the head, neck and torso in a remote mountainous area.
Christian Daniel Castro Alvarez pleaded guilty in November to murdering a federal officer near Campo, about 60 miles east of San Diego. He told authorities that he and others were attempting to rob the agent, Robert Rosas.
Rosas, 30, was the first Border Patrol agent to be killed by gunfire since 1998, according to The Officer Down Memorial Page, a website that tracks death of law enforcement officers.
Rosas was shot repeatedly from behind and then while he was lying on the ground, according to prosecutors.
U.S. authorities say Castro acted with others but have not said how many or announced arrests. The suspects are believed to have fled back to Mexico through a small crevice under a border fence made of corrugated metal, sparking a massive search on both sides of the border.
Castro surrendered to authorities at a San Diego border crossing in August, less than a month after Rosas died on the night of July 23, but his capture was not announced until he pleaded guilty three months later. He was charged as an adult.
Castro confessed that he and others lured Rosas out of his Border Patrol vehicle by leaving footprints on a dirt road, shaking bushes and making noises, according to prosecutors. Rosas, who was patrolling alone, was ambushed and stripped of his gun about 100 yards from the border.
Castro, who was 16 at the time, told authorities he was holding Rosas at gunpoint when the agent reached for Castro’s firearm. Castro shot once and shouted for help to his collaborators, who were walking toward Rosas’ vehicle. They opened fire.

Tea Party Stands With Arizona

Arizona law says their state has an obligation to protect its citizens, and to be accurate, Uncle Sam has repeatedly failed to protect Border States.
I was not surprise the decision was handed down in favor of the Arizona Citizens. Furthermore, I believe Arizona has a solid argument to back up their safety claim.
Example, last year, Phoenix, Arizona was named the “kidnapping capitol” of America, but it doesn’t end there. The majority of those Phoenix abductions were the results of the Mexican drug cartel wars just a few miles south over the Mexican border.
Who can forget just a few weeks ago, an Arizonan rancher with a history of assisting illegal aliens cross the border was shot and killed on his own property, by what some claim, was a gunman who fled across the border back into Mexico. The irony is, many of the illegal aliens who trespassed over his land, trashed in the process, his thank you was Death.
Since Washington has thrown the Constitution under the bus and views it as a “living document” a new era of quasi-interpretations are boiling forth from the Washington stink tanks. After reviewing the 10th Amendment with the new eyes of progressive thinking one can only ask the question, “Should our nation function without law?”
Texas Rep. Debbie Riddle Introduces Similar Anti-Immigration Bill to Arizona’s

Debbie Riddle
A Texas lawmaker said today that she agrees with the controversial immigration bill passed in Arizona and plans to introduce a similar one in her own state to combat the flow of illegal immigrants.
Republican Texas Rep. Debbie Riddle told ABCNews.com that the bill she plans to introduce in the state legislature later this year “gives law enforcement officers additional tools, if they have the reasonable suspicion that there is a violation of a law, to inquire into an individual’s immigration status.”
Riddle, who is up for election in November, introduced similar legislation last session, but it never made it out of committee.
She says that like Arizona’s Gov.Jan Brewer, who is under fire from both Democrats and Republicans over the state’s new anti-immigrant law, her first priority is to “make sure that the safety and security of citizens is well established, not to determine whether I get positive or negative or no attention at all.”

Scotland Yard’s Latest Most Wanted Illustrates “Benefits of Immigration”

The latest line-up from New Scotland Yard’s “most wanted” list, as released on the Metropolitan Police’s website, is a searing indictment of the highly destructive effect of mass immigration into Britain.
Of the top twelve suspects, only two appear to be British and all the rest are a collection of immigrants from the far corners of the globe, wanted for serious offences such as murder, terrorism and fraud.
Scotland Yard’s most wanted man, Farouk Abdulhak, described as of “Yemeni and Egyptian origins,” is wanted for murder.
Abdulhak was studying at Regents Business School London and is known to have fled to Yemen immediately following the murder.
Number two on the Yard’s list is Latvian Juris Teteris, wanted for armed robbery.
The third most wanted man is Hayman Mustafa, who is being sought for murder. He is described by the Met as being of “Arabic appearance.”
Number four on the most wanted list is Khalid Sageea Hamoud, for bank robbery and breaking bail.
Czech national Daniel Milic is the fifth most wanted man. He is being sought for “complex deceptions involving several victims across the UK,” according to the Met, who helpfully add that he also uses the alias Djordjevic.
The sixth most wanted man is Ibrahim Adam, who is “subject to a Control Order issued under Section 2 Prevention of Terrorism Act 2005.” The Met says that the “subject resides in East London but may have travelled outside London or abroad.”

D.C. takes break from porn surfing to bail out Wall Street by Ann Coulter

Ann Coulter
Democrats have decided that in order to prevent Wall Street from starting more financial meltdowns, wrecking the economy and leaving the American taxpayer holding the bag, we need to give more oversight authority to the same government employees who were busy surfing Internet porn as private investors frantically tried to warn them about Bernie Madoff.
The Democrats’ financial “reform” bill also includes a $50 billion bailout fund – that’s million with a “B” – that will save the Democrats from the unpleasant task of having to go on record voting for another Wall Street bailout.
Under the Democrats’ bill, the FDIC will distribute the bailout money to Wall Street bankers without Congress having to take any action at all. (In the House version, the slush fund for the Democrats’ Wall Street friends is $150 billion.)
True, the billions of dollars will be doled out to banks for the purpose of “dissolving” them. So what? They’ll come back under a new name. But the guilty parties will lose no money for making bad bets – although if the bets paid off, they’d take all the profits. That’s what Democrats mean by “accountability.”
Not surprisingly, the only politicians opposed to a permanent bailout fund for bankers are the politicians not owned by Wall Street – that is, most Republicans and one socialist, Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
The Democrats’ defense of Wall Street’s golden parachute is to say Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell used a “talking point” formulated for him by pollster Frank Luntz in opposing the bailout fund.
As Frank Rich explained in the New York Times, the bailout fund is not a bailout fund because “Sen. Mitch McConnell went on CNN to flog his big lie that the Senate reform bill somehow guaranteed bank bailouts – a talking point long ago concocted for the GOP by its favorite spin strategist, Frank Luntz.”
