New York Times Pays Execs Extra To Hire Minorities And Women Instead Of White Guys

Sorry, white fellas. No grease for hiring you.

Another fun fact from the New York Times’s proxy: Senior executives can get an extra bonus for hiring minorities and women instead of white guys.

Don’t believe it?

Let’s go to the text:

The [Compensation] Committee also retained the discretion to increase or decrease the individual component of the total bonus paid to each executive by up to 10% based on the continuing development of a diverse work force, including the inclusion of diverse candidates in hiring processes and the demonstration of personal commitment to diversity through participation in diversity-related activities, such as mentoring and sponsorship of affinity groups.

  • Race matters then, NYT? What bald faced open hypocrisy. Funny thought, lets open the doors to “diversity” in areas like surgery, computers, science in general. Forget testing. Forget the ability to communicate. Forget the silly notion of quality or performance as all of this is a form of discrimination!

Another curious thought. Hiring minorities, humm, define what is a minority and what is not. It seems that the NYT leaves open a huge portal to, ah, hire many who are like their own executive staff and get rewarded in doing so.

  • Don’t worry, WASPs will be a minority in the US in 30 years and then they’ll have all the benefits of being a minority group.
