In high school as a student I bought into it, insisting on eliminating the Electrical College as my topic while I was on the Debate Team. Scant information about limiting democracy was given out and if so it was done in a derisive sort of way. "Only white land owners (evil) could vote....., ha ha ha, how horrible...". It took years for me to shake the rubbish from my clouded head and think clearly. When I started to quote the Founders on their cautions on democracy, their concerns, their fears I knew I was touching on some sacred cow protected raw nerves. As most administrators, fellow teachers were liberals they were aghast that someone in their profession midst did not sing high praise for opening the doors to even more voters. Illegal aliens, felons, those as young as can be, Mexicans in Mexico, The WORLD, my head spins but there seemed no end to the open door policy of letting everyone and their dog vote. Oh, I forgot, The Dead can vote too and vote often. I looked at what I knew about our country and I saw people voting that had no concern for the country and in fact hatred for the country and people like me. Humm. No small wonder the LEFT clings to powerwashing democracy into every crevice it can. Democracy can seep in and crack the very foundation of the Republic until the Republic is no more. The Founders were mindful of the destructiveness of democracy and tried to hold its use to that which would be beneficial to a Republic. Even national dictators in the 20th Century waxed philosophical on the ultimate outcome of unbridled democracy, in this case, Communist dictatorships. So here we are on the edge of the abyss waiting for the final push. When we go down, many will not understand the plunge into darkness as they are so addled with the drug of democracy and will cling to it like "My Precious, My Precious (ring)" from Lord of the Rings, Gollum, when they hit bottom. Expect these to be Pollyanna in praising democracy in the midst of ruin having learned nothing from the fall, as MY Precious will still be bonded fast to them. Others that have suspicions will have kept quiet as to not to be called terrifying names like racists and beaten into ruinous submission. On the bottom they may speak up but that means a fight and they are not known for fighting. Those who knew seem to be few. We are in for, as the Chinese say in a curse, "Interesting Times."
