GOP official removed for racial remarks

"I'm very much afraid that the Democratic Party is going to do the same thing (with Hispanics) that they did with the African-American culture and make them all dependent on the government and we don't want that." Didi Lima, the Clark County GOP communications director

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The spokeswoman for the Republican Party in Nevada’s most populous county was removed from her post Saturday, after she said the Democratic Party made black people “dependent on the government.”

Didi Lima, the Clark County GOP communications director, also was removed from her volunteer role as a Hispanic community liaison for Republican John McCain’s presidential campaign over the remarks made earlier in the day while working at a McCain campaign booth.

“We don’t want (Hispanics) to become the new African-American community,” Lima told The Associated Press. “And that’s what the Democratic Party is going to do to them, create more programs and give them handouts, food stamps and checks for this and checks for that. We don’t want that.”

A California Mother Shares Her Son’s View Of The Coming White Minority; etc.

My husband, a professional with advanced academic degrees summed it up: "Forced diversity only makes people self-segregate into their own groups."

I thought your readers would be interested in the future of America, as seen through the eyes of my 6-year-old son.

He just started first-grade in a public school in the Bay Area. The city was reported to be 40 percent white during the last census.

During the first days of school, we went to a large mega-mart in the neighborhood to pick up supplies. Out of the nowhere, my son said to me: “Mom, I think I’m the only blue-eyed boy in my class.”

He said it very matter-of-factly, as if he’d just thought of it. In fact, my son is the only blond blue-eyed kid in his classroom.

I don’t know what triggered my son’s observation. Perhaps it is the fact that when we do look around these days, we stick out as the only fair-skinned, light-haired people in a sea of black hair. Most of the time we don’t pay attention to this, but when we do notice it, it is quite jarring to realize that we are already minorities.

According to the 2000 Census, my town was 45 percent white in 2000. The 2006 estimate is 32 percent. My personal projection for 2010 is that whites will be 25 percent.

No escape from videotape

What trackers are doing with video technology has long been part of what campaigns called "opposition research."

They’re armed with video cameras, tape recorders and lots of chutzpah.

But they’re not paparazzi, and they’re not targeting celebrities.

These videographers - trackers as they’re known in political circles - target political candidates, waiting for a gaffe that can be used in attack ads or on popular video-sharing Web sites such as YouTube.

Tracking has long been used in presidential and Senate races, but it’s trickling down to regional races as video technology becomes easier and cheaper to use.

Candidates in Ohio’s 1st and 2nd Congressional District races say they’ve been tracked and are tracking their opponent.

An online ad in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race is made up of tracker-shot footage of Democratic candidate Bruce Lunsford’s supporters cursing and bullying. The tag line: “What kind of company does Bruce Lunsford keep? See for yourself.”

European Parliaments Silences Our Collaborator: So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbyeee

Somebody made an official complaint about this blog to the powers that be

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbyeee. Ladies and gentlemen, I am sad to announce that from henceforth my contributions shall be consigned to the dustbins of history. I say this with a heavy heart, but it is the case. And this is why.

Last week I was summoned by my Secretary General and informed that a formal complaint had been made about my posting on this blog. My activities were found to be in contravention of the Staff Code of Conduct

In particular I was in breech of Article 12 and 17. That is

“Article 12
An official shall refrain from any action or behaviour which might reflect adversely upon his position.

1. Subject to Article 15, an official wishing to engage in an outside activity, whether paid or unpaid, or to carry out any assignment outside the Communities, shall first obtain the permission of the Appointing Authority. Permission shall be refused only if the activity or assignment in question is such as to interfere with the performance of the official’s duties or is incompatible with the interests of the institution.

Ultimately, the piper must be paid

During the 1960s, the United Nations produced the nternational Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Article V proclaimed that all people had a “right” to housing. Both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations supported the treaty, but it was not ratified until the Clinton administration, November 20, 1994

The meltdown in the financial markets has caused the finger of blame to spin like a weathervane in a hurricane. The underlying cause of the debacle, however, has been largely ignored. Driven by “progressive” Democrats and Republicans, the cause is the relentless shift from a free market economy to a socialist economy.

Until the Roosevelt era, the responsibility and privilege of having a home was left solely to the individual. Few people realize that Fannie Mae (Federal National Mortgage Association) was created in 1938 by FDR, to provide a federal guarantee for home loans extended by local banks.

Freddie Mac (Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation) was created in 1970, during Nixon’s reign. Both were designed to buy mortgages from local lenders as a way to insure an adequate supply of money for local lenders. These “secondary” mortgages were packaged into “bundles” of securities that were traded among an array of financial institutions.

Opinions on busing run strong

"The parents who could afford to take their children out of public school were more educationally oriented ... than parents who kept their children in public school."

Feelings about busing — and what it might have accomplished — still run strong, even though the court order was lifted 13 years ago, and the Neighborhood Schools Act of 2000 put an exclamation point on that decision.

“The quality of education went down the tubes with busing, and it’s never recovered,” said William D’Onofrio, 77, of Milltown. “They lowered the quality of education to the lowest common denominator.”

D’Onofrio took over the anti-busing Positive Action Committee in 1978 from founder and then-president James Venema, and he has served as president since 1980 of another group Venema helped create, the National Association for Neighborhood Schools, which continues to fight busing issues nationally.

Blacks, whites show prejudices along racial divide

People of both races living just blocks apart who nonetheless spoke of each other like strangers. There was suspicion, contempt...

DETROIT — The Classic Creations barber shop sits empty, surrounded by drunks and shuttered storefronts just two blocks from the manicured lawns of Grosse Pointe Park. The contrast isn’t lost on LaVar Anthony, a young barber who speaks in riddles of race, class and politics.

“What’s already understood,” he says without looking up from his Ebony magazine, “don’t need to be explained.”

But when it comes to race, what is understood? And what is misunderstood?

Patriotism has become dirty word

If you agree with illegal alien invasion, you disagree with the U.S. Constitution

On Aug. 18, the MCFIR held a town meeting to inform people about the Rule of Law (Constitution) concerning illegal immigration and how to stop the “illegal alien” (what the U.S. Constitution calls them) invasion in our community. Most of the attendees were concerned citizens and veterans.

Liliana Silvestry, director of the Welcome Center, inferred that those of us who believe in the Rule of Law as law to the Ku Klux Klan. (Austin Daily Herald, Aug. 22). I guess she equates those who wrote the U.S. Constitution to be part of the KKK, too. The Rule of Law is not about race. It’s about legal and illegal. The race card is only played when people run out of ideas to illegally solve a problem.

Patriotism has become a dirty word, and those who disrespect our laws are glorified by the media.

MIGRATION HAS HIT OUR SENSE OF IDENTITY, SAY YOUNG BRITONS

IMMIGRANTS are diluting the nation’s identity and threatening jobs, say six out of 10 young people

A fifth say the increased diversity of religions is damaging nationality identity while only one in four think the Government will be able to manage migration in the next few years.

The next generation believes our sense of belonging is now “under ambush” and new arrivals must respect the traditions and religion of the host nation, according to the survey out yesterday.

Migrants must also learn English and have a regular job, most youngsters say.

The survey by the British Council, a Government-backed body which promotes the UK abroad, shows Britons of all ages are now concerned about immigration and sends a stark message to Downing Street.

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of MigrationwatchUK, said: “This is extremely clear evidence that immigration is not just a concern for the older generation. A high proportion of young people share this central concern.”

Simmering tensions seen as downside of diversity

A high rate of migration concentrated in Sydney meant a higher rate of encounters with different cultures and a greater cause for friction

NSW is the most racist state in Australia, a 10-year study has found.

Challenging Racism: The Anti-Racism Research Project also found that while Australians were largely welcoming of diversity, the view of national identity was still narrow.

The first results of the study will be unveiled at the 4Rs international conference - Rights, Reconciliation, Respect and Responsibility - at the University of Technology, Sydney, which starts on Tuesday. The full results will be released early next year, with the data to be used by human rights and anti-discrimination agencies across Australia to implement strategies specific to the needs of each region.

The study, led by human geography and urban studies professor Kevin Dunn, from the University of Western Sydney, found high rates of migration meant NSW, on average, was the least tolerant of all the states and territories.
